BGE Green Grants are now being offered to local communities within the BGE service area. Grants will be considered for new and existing programs within the following focus areas: conservation, education, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, and community activism, as well as requests for funding that clearly demonstrate improvement in environmental efforts of the community.   • Opportunity Collaborative Education and Engagement Sub-grants

LOI deadline:  May 22, 2013

 

The Baltimore Metropolitan Council, on behalf of the Opportunity Collaborative, is seeking Letters of Interest from organizations in the Baltimore region interested in engaging the public on behalf of the Collaborative. Approved organizations will be eligible to receive engagement sub-grants from the Collaborative. The Collaborative will undertake three rounds of engagement and will select a team of sub-grantees from the list of approved organizations to perform engagement activities during each of the three rounds.   • Parks & People Foundation Fall 2013 Grant Round

Parks & People's community greening programs can help community residents to grow strong roots. Using a community organizing approach to neighborhood revitalization, residents develop ideas and implement projects to improve their communities through hands-on greening projects that provide multiple environmental benefits.   • Wells Fargo Homeownership Grant Program

The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation provides financial resources to local nonprofit housing organizations to create sustainable homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income people.   • Chesapeake Bay Trust Mini Grant Program for Community Engagement and Restoration Projects

Application deadline:  rolling

 

The 2012-2013 Mini Grants Program is designed to engage Maryland citizens in activities that raise public awareness and participation in the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers.   • Green Affordable Housing Preservation Fund

Application deadline:  none

   

The National Housing Trust Community Development Fund provides below market loans to affordable housing developers who seek to incorporate green building techniques when rehabilitating existing affordable housing. Under this program, a portion of the loan will be forgiven when the developer demonstrates that they have incorporated practical, environmentally friendly design elements in the property's rehabilitation plan.   • Maryland Small Grants Program

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation has implemented the Maryland Small Grants Program, for nonprofits seeking general operating grants of up to $50,000 a year for two years. All that's required is a simple, five-page proposal, and The Weinberg Foundation will quickly review and respond.
