Meeting of Nonprofits and Funders: Presentations and Discussion
February 20, Baltimore
Associated Black Charities, Baltimore Housing, Baltimore Neighborhood Collaborative, Enterprise Community Partners and Maryland Asset Building and Community Development Network - City Committee convened nonprofits, intermediaries, and funders to focus on the impact of the recession and stimulus on community development in Baltimore. The goals of the meeting were to: (1) Understand the implications of the current financial environment on the local community development sector; (2) Share information about how Baltimore community development funders are approaching 2009; and (3) Begin to identify areas where funders and the nonprofit sector can work together to respond to these challenging times.

About the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The White House provides a quick summary of the Act and its promised outcomes, including the creation or saving of over 3.5 million jobs.

City

Baltimore Economic Recovery Team
This multi-agency team will coordinate, maximize, and monitor the funds that will come to Baltimore through the Recovery Act. The Team will report on the use of the funding and the outcomes achieved.

Mainstreet Economic Recovery
The U.S. Conference of Mayors is tracking the ARRA funds that are going to the nation's cities.

State

Maryland's Recovery and Reinvestment
The Governor's website will provide Marylanders with the information and tools (including county-level information) necessary to track the progress of Maryland's Recovery and Reinvestment plan.

Maryland Municipal League
The Maryland Municipal League is compiling Maryland-specific updates related to the stimulus.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development's website provides detailed information on how it is implementing the Recovery Act and the programs being funded by the Act.
